Pinterest- Add a feature

  • Introduction

Pinterest is a platform where users may find a plethora of inspiring ideas. People can get a great deal of knowledge as well as entertainment. Fashion, travel, home décor, wellness, food, and DIY projects are among the few categories on Pinterest. People can favorite pins to boards to keep their ideas organized and easily accessible. Pins are also a wonderful approach to help promote traffic and sales because they can connect directly to websites. Pinterest makes it simple for individuals to go straight to the source by decreasing the number of steps from exploration to purchase.

Conduct user interviews to identify user pain points, and then try to enhance the user experience by adding a feature.

  • High Level Design Goals

Optimize the search results page to enhance User Experience.

Resolve User pain points by adding a feature based on the User interviews.

  • Problem Statement

Users are having difficulty finding precise information since the search engine results are potentially overwhelming.

Research

  • Research Objective

To determine if Pinterest users are familiar with the eCommerce option.
To determine whether or not people are interested in purchasing from Pinterest.
To empathize with the user's needs and pain points.

  • Research Goal

    1. What are the users' expectations for optimizing the search results?

    2. What are the most common user concerns about Pinterest?

    3. Does adding a feature really enhance Usability

  • One on One Interviews Summary

    I interviewed a total of 6 participants.

Two of them are male and four of them are females from different parts of the world in the age group between 18 to 50 years.

The participants expressed their ideas, experiences, and pain points, which tremendously benefited my study and proved to me that improvements to the website are required to reduce the pain points of the users.

  • Needs

    1. The users enjoy the Pinterest buying option, however, the search results appear to be disorganized.

    2. If a user searches for information in a repetitive manner, the user will always view the same information without any new information.

    3. Because it is quite broad, users sometimes find irrelevant data and squander time by browsing undesired items and spending a lot of time researching other things.

  • Goals

    1. Add a sort tool that will assist users in optimizing search results.

    2. Add a New Arrivals option to the sort menu to assist users in finding the most recent collection.

    3. Add top-rated to assist people in finding the most popular collection.

    4. Add relevance to help people get the most relevant results depending on their search.
